In all of the Final Fantasy Games there is at least one way of transportation, in FF7 there are many, and here's the list.
| The SA-37 isn't exactly a mean of transportation in the game in which you can use on the map but it's a quite useful part of the story. Cloud and the gang escape the ShinRa HQ with the SA-37. Unable to maneuver very well and the lack of weapons it provides, Cloud has to protect the party on his motorcycle while evemies are attacking the SA-37. NOTE: You can only use it in this one event. |
| Chocobos can be obtained all of world in specific areas. The are encountered where there are chocobo tracks on the ground. Chocobos are also a very diverse mean of transportation. Since they are capable of breeding, special chocobos can come out of the breeding process. Some can walk on land, mountains, shallow water, deep water or anywhere on the map. Btw you can breed them easily, it just takes some time. |
| The Buggy is actually a gift from Dio who owns the Gold Saucer. He gives it to you becuase of an error in judgement that he made towards Cloud and the gang. The Buggy is quite useful at the time you recive it. With it you are able to go over sand and pass of the streams on the map... however with it you must still fight random battles. Not quite the ideal vehicle but for the time being it's better then nothing. |
| The Tiny Bronco probably could have been more useful then it actually is, if it wasn't shot down. After the Tiny Bronco is shot down it's only good enough to navigate through the shallow waters... but other then that it's unable to fly even though it's a plane. However, with the Tiny Bronco comes the tough talking Cid Highwind. I didn't like it too well, but it serves a purpose, without it you can't finish the game. |
| After you chase Shinra for the huge materia you can then navigate underwater. The are several useful objectives you have underwater including Emerald Weapon. The Submarine can also be used as a boat, but not very practical for that. Also you can reach Lucretia's Cave and get Vincent's Ultimate Weapon and Level 4 Limit Break, check out the Level 4 Limit Breaks and Ultimate Weapons List for more info. |
| The Highwind, with it you have the freedom to roam through the whole map. It is stolen from Shinra and turns out to be very useful. It can Navigate anywhere but, it can not land anywhere. In order to land the Highwind, you must land on a grassy area. With it you are unable to enter most of the special caves. Also you can put your chocobos on it that way it makes it easier to move around. |
